Fide Island is currently distributed independently and is not yet signed or notarized through the Apple Developer Program. Because of that, Gatekeeper may say that Apple cannot verify the developer. This warning is about the missing Apple verification—not an indication that the app is malicious.
Download Fide Island only from this website. The app is local-first, includes no custom analytics or tracking, and asks for optional permissions only when a feature needs them.

Before you install.
Does Fide Island upload my clipboard or files?
Not in the current Mac app design. Clipboard history and Shelf copies are stored locally. Shelf and clipboard history are designed to expire after 24 hours, and no custom Fide Island backend is currently used for those features.
Why does media access mention Apple Events?
The app primarily reads the macOS Now Playing session through a bundled compatibility component. If that path is unavailable, a narrower AppleScript fallback can ask macOS for Automation permission for selected media apps or browsers.
Does Input Monitoring read what I type?
The feature is intended only to recognize brightness, volume and mute key presses for system-control feedback. It is optional and off by default in the current app configuration.
What goes online?
The app contacts Fide Island's access API to start or refresh a trial and to verify paid subscriptions, plus exchange-rate and optional weather services. Trial access uses a random installation identifier stored in Keychain; clipboard, files, calendar, media and Apple Notes content are not sent with it. Translation content is handled by Apple's on-device Translation framework on supported macOS versions. Google Gemini is contacted only when you explicitly use the assistant.
How does Apple Notes access work?
The Notes tab talks directly to Apple Notes through macOS Automation. After you grant permission, Fide Island can show recent notes and can create, edit or open notes when you ask it to. Fide Island does not maintain a separate cloud copy of your Notes data.
Does the translator upload my text to Fide Island?
No. On macOS 15 or later, translation is performed through Apple's Translation framework and the text is processed on device. Fide Island does not send translation text to its own servers.
How does the three-day trial work?
Download the Mac app and choose Start my free trial. The access server records one three-day period for that installation. No email, checkout or card is required, and nothing is charged automatically when the trial ends.
How does the $1 subscription work?
Paddle securely processes the recurring monthly payment and applicable taxes. After purchase, enter the same email in the Mac app and confirm the one-time access code.
